The following circular from the Fire Brigades National Employer (EMP/4/06 shows the latest position on Bounty payments following RFU lobbying of Nationl Employers.
- Bounty Payments will now continue after 6th April 2006 for RDS personnel who complete the necessary service to qualify for a bounty; i.e. 10, 15, 20, 25, 35 years service.
- Upon completion of this service, you will be entitled to a payment pro-rata to your service accrued up until 5th April 2006.
For Example:
* For 20 years service completed on 4th July 2006
8 20 years bounty payment = £1535 (firefighter)
*Bounty service to 05/04/06 = 4 3/4 years
* Actual bounty to be paid on 04/07/06, pro-rata to 05/04/06 = £1458.
- This is only an interim arrangement, pending further discussions with the Employers on phasing out bounty payments when RDS personnel have acces to either the Firefighters Pension Scheme or the new national Firefighters Pension Scheme.
- There will be no bounty payment to personnel who resign after 6th April 2006, clarification is also waited in respect of personnel who retire from the service after 6th April 2006.
- RFU members will appreciate that although we are now involved in resolving this matter, the problems arises from a failure to clarify the phasing out arrangements for bounty payments at the time of the agreement between the Employers and the FBU at the end of the 2002/3 strike
We will obviously keep you informed. |
