RDS Salary Negotiations
As part of the ongoing RDS Strategy Project undertaken by HFRS, salary and contracts are currently being reveiwed.
HFRS have advised that they are keen to introduce a Salary Scheme for RDS firefighters, they feel that this will provide a better system of renumeration for availability rather than incident based and that it will offer more flexibility in the contracts they can offer new recruits.
Of course it is about money too. Along with other public agencies HFRS will be expected to show costs savings in running the service and whilst all other departments are being put under pressure and analysed we would expect no different for RDS.
HFRS are currently evaluating a system for paying a salary and it is this which is being presented around Hampshire over the next few weeks:
The sessions will be held at:
Monday 10th May (01) Basingstoke Fire Station at 1900
Wednesday 12th May (19) Waterlooville Fire Station at 1900
Tuesday 18th May SHQ Harland Room at 1900
Thursday 20th May (48) Lyndhurst Fire Station at 1900
We would urge every RDS station to send a representative along to find out more.
HRFU have not been resting however and we have composed a 'Discussional Document' detailing, if the service feel that a salary scheme is the only way forward, how we think other systems may work. It is attached to this email - please do read it and let us know your thoughts - after all it is you that we represent and without your feedback we cannot work for the best of our members.
